SECTION 1 - GROUP OF DATA SUBJECT 

Persons signed-up for the TAUKO’s mailing list and customers of TAUKO’s physical stores and webshop.

 

SECTION 2 - WHAT DO WE DO WITH YOUR INFORMATION?

Data protection law in European Union requires a lawful basis for collecting and retaining personal data from citizens or residents of the European Economic Area. These lawful bases include:

1. Performing a contract between TAUKO and customer

2. Legal compliance with laws and regulations

3. Legitimate interests ie for running a business, in a way that does not materially impact our customer’s right, freedom or interest.

Personal data stored at TAUKO is used for managing the relationships with customers. The collected data may be used for digital marketing purposes and possible future customer satisfaction surveys pursuant to applicable laws. With the permission of our client, we may send emails about our store, new products and other updates.

 

SECTION 3 - INFORMATION COLLECTED

The following data may be processed by TAUKO:

a) customer name, e-mail address(es), telephone number(s) and mailing address(es).

b) information related to the customer relationship, such as date of becoming a TAUKO web shop customer or mailing list subscriber, as well as direct marketing permissions and prohibitions

c) information related to purchases and other communication, services and campaigns directed at and offered to the customer, other communication, and measures related to the customer relationship as well as purchases made in TAUKO stores (ie. dates of the purchases and products purchased, number and price of the products purchased and the total sum of purchases).

 

SECTION 4 - REGULAR SOURCES OF INFORMATION 

Most of the basic information is collected from the data subjects themselves at the beginning of and during the customer relationship. When you provide us with personal information to complete a transaction, verify your credit card, place an order, arrange for a delivery or return a purchase, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.

If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

 
Additional data (ie.purchase history) may be added to the register later by TAUKO’s customer register administrator.


How do I withdraw my consent?

If after you opt-in, you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, for the continued collection, use or disclosure of your information, at anytime, by contacting us at tauko@taukodesign.fi.

 

SECTION 5 - PROTECTION OF DATA DURING TRANSFER  

TAUKO may disclose personal data within the limitations imposed by effective legislation as follows:

a) on the basis of a data subject’s consent

b) to authorized third parties to the extent they participate in the fulfilling of the agreement between TAUKO and the customer. TAUKO obliges third parties to keep confidential all personal data disclosed to them and to secure such personal data in an adequate manner

c) on the basis of mandatory legislation.

Disclosures and transfers outside of the European Economic Area:

a) TAUKO may transfer personal data outside of the European Economic Area

b) for the purpose of fulfilling its obligations, TAUKO may transfer customer personal data to internal or external recipients who may be in countries offering different levels of personal data protection For technical and practical reasons relating to usage, data may be stored on servers of third-party service providers used by TAUKO, or such third-party service providers may process data on behalf of TAUKO.

  

SECTION 6 - RIGHTS OF THE DATA SUBJECTS

Data subjects are, within the limitations imposed by applicable law, entitled to

a) check what data TAUKO has collected of him/her

b) require that any incorrect, useless, incomplete or outdated information be corrected or removed

c) prohibit TAUKO from processing his/her personal data for the purposes of direct marketing, market research and opinion polls

d) request a downloadable copy of his/her personal data

e) request deletion of customer account – TAUKO may retain certain information as required by law or as necessary for legitimate business purposes

Data subjects may use their above rights by contacting TAUKO at the addresses stated at the beginning of this policy.

 

SECTION 7 - RETENTION

Use of the data within the Data Controller’s organisation has been instructed, and access to the personal data file is restricted so that access to the information stored in the system and the right to use that information is only vested in those employees of the Data Controller who have such right on the basis of their work assignments. The data processing system has a strict inbuild access control that prevents outsiders to get access to the private data of registered users. Access to the system requires that each user of the register enters a user ID and password. The data is not in paper format.

TAUKO will retain customer information as long as customer account is active, as necessary to provide the customer with the services or otherwise set forth in this Policy. TAUKO will also retain and use this information as necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy and to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements and protect TAUKO’s rights.

 

SECTION 8 - SECURITY

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption. Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.

 

SECTION 9 - COOKIES

Here is a list of cookies that we use. We’ve listed them here so you that you can choose if you want to opt-out of cookies or not.

_session_id, unique token, sessional, Allows Shopify to store information about your session (referrer, landing page, etc). 

_shopify_visit, no data held, Persistent for 30 minutes from the last visit, Used by our website provider’s internal stats tracker to record the number of visits

_shopify_uniq, no data held, expires midnight (relative to the visitor) of the next day, Counts the number of visits to a store by a single customer.

cart, unique token, persistent for 2 weeks, Stores information about the contents of your cart.

_secure_session_id, unique token, sessional

storefront_digest, unique token, indefinite If the shop has a password, this is used to determine if the current visitor has access.

Cookies provided by our third party services, such as Google Analytics, also transfer and store information on the servers of these service providers. Google Analytics helps us understand how you use our site, how we could improve your experience and our communication with you. More information about Google Analytics cookies can be found here.

If you wish, you may block cookies in your browser settings for our website or completely. You can also delete the existing cookies files on your computer at any time. See your browser’s Help-section for further instructions on how to do this. Note that blocking the cookies might affect the functionality of websites.

You can also opt out of Google’s advertising tracking cookie or use a browser plugin to opt out of all Google Analytics tracking software.

 

SECTION 10 - LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES AND SERVICES
When you click on links on our store, they may direct you away from our site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read their privacy statements.

 

SECTION 11 - DATA PROTECTION AUTHORITY

Subject to applicable law, if customer is a citizen or resident of the European Economic Area, he/she also has the right to: 
a) object to TAUKO’s use of his/her personal information, and
b) lodge a complaint with his/her local data protection authority or the European Union Information Commissioner’s Office.

 

SECTION 12 - DISCLOSURE
We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so or if you violate our Terms of Service.

 

SECTION 13 - SHOPIFY

Our store is hosted on Shopify Inc. They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.

Your data is stored through Shopify’s data storage, databases and the general Shopify application. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall.

Payment: If you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, then Shopify stores your credit card data. It is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted.

All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

SECTION 14 - THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.

However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.

In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located a different jurisdiction than either you or us. So if you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

As an example, if you are located in Canada and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.

Once you leave our store’s website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.

 

SECTION 15 - AGE OF CONSENT
By using this site, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in your state or province of residence, or that you are the age of majority in your state or province of residence and you have given us your consent to allow any of your minor dependents to use this site.

 

SECTION 16 - CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.

If our store is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owners so that we may continue to sell products to you.
